I believe that it is the right word to read and how so many can CHANGE or ADD TO the Word of G-d even whee mn let us know that to do so makes one cursed. Most people now makes the mistake that they don’t realize WHO G-d is speaking to. So they steal the Covenants and Promises make to the JEWS and throw back the ones they don’t like ! I have sent quite a few to Romans 9- 10 and 11 and tell them to read EVERY word and see if they can find the word REPLACE in any of it. Also to look for words like THEREFORE and Everlasting and UNTIL…Most never even read how Salvation came thru the JEWS..and I never hear how we are to go into all the world and preach the gospel to the JEW first.. It is insantiy and even from DAY ONE GEnesis 12:3 warns of who is CURSED..and finally how can anyone not love the JEWS who have blessed the whole world..THEY Are my heart

My foundation is Joshua 1:8 ” This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success!” To me this verse is the key to life. It’s more important than education or money or any material thing. Jesus would not have left us here without a map for our journey. His Word is our roadmap …,that is why He said “I Am the Way …..” Pick it up and KEEP GOING~ we are almost home !! Shalom, my friends 🙂

I just finished listening to week one of memorizing scripture. At my church we have 17 lessons that are covered under discipleship training… Salvation, eternal security, prayer, baptism, giving, money & possessions to mention a few. At the end of each lesson are 3-5 memory versus that pertain to that lesson that each student is expected to memorize. I, like you, put them on a 3×5 index card and I carried those verses with me.
Real quick I wanted to share that we were blessed to hear a 93 year old man quote Ephesians chapter 2. He memorized the entire book of Ephesians at age 85. He is now blind so I would imagine he is so thankful to have God’s word not only in his heart but clearly able to see.
John, again thank you for all the time you spend teaching and equipping us. I just desperately need your prayers to keep me focused on Jesus and not what is going on in America. All I can do is pray for the unsaved and try to live the way God would have me live as I wait on His return.
    God bless you

This sounds like a wonderful church that teaches real discipleship.
Make sure that you add the following verses you are memorizing as it will keep you from fear
      Titus 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

    John,
Here is an incredible story about a man who meditated on God’s word and was delivered from an impossible situation, 3 days in the belly of the ocean.

John, here’s one for your health blog. There is talk about lifting the ban on homosexuals (sodomite) from donating blood. This is very frightening. Do we now have to specify that we only want heterosexual blood when receiving a tranfusion? NOTHING good will come if this is permitted.

John, Thank You!! Thank you! I am joining all of you in memorization. what a blessing you are and everyone that is on this blog. I too love to memorize, that is how I go to sleep each night.. quoting my Bible verses. One of my favorites is
    Proverbs
4:20 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.

21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.

22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

John: I just want to add my voice to those who are so appreciative that you are taking the time to teach how to memorize scripture. When I was about 8-10, in a Baptist Sunday School, we used to have Bible drills (KJV) and we also were encouraged to learn a scripture verse each week. I have no idea if children’s classes are still doing that.

Then as a teenager who lived in a rural area and was sure of my love for Jesus, I watched other teenagers doing things I would never do–but, I guess in case there were temptations that might become hard to resist, God gave me a verse that I learned when I was about 16 and it is one of the few verses I can still quote from memory. This is a verse for absolutely everyone no matter what our age or no matter how firm a Christian foundation we have. If we hide this verse in our hearts and repeat it often, temptation should flee!

    1 Corinthians 10:13

    King James Version (KJV)

13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

    God bless everyone!

    Maranatha!
