Edom in Hebrew is from the word Adom אדום (Red) which the bible refers to Asav the brother of Jacob. Edom is from Esav which later became Rome, which became Western society.
So Edom today is especially Europe and the USA.

    • JohnMcTernan says:

There is no proof of this.
According to Obadiah the House of Esau are the Palestinians living on the land

Obadiah 1:18 And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the LORD hath spoken it.
Oba 1:19 And they of the south shall possess the mount of Esau; and they of the plain the Philistines: and they shall possess the fields of Ephraim, and the fields of Samaria: and Benjamin shall possess Gilead.

      • Shlomo says:

Shalom John and fellow G-d fearing readers,

First of all we should all realize that there is no such thing as Palestinians. They are simply Arabs who are decedents of Yishmael Abrahams 1st son. When the Romans destroyed the 1st temple, they wanted to stick it to the Jews and destroy their Temple land and NAME. So they renamed Israel Palaestina after Israel’s enemies the Philistines.

The Arabs living in Gaza or Jordan or Bethleham or Hebron, never had a Palestinian state, government, songs, or history. They are simply Arabs. Yaaser Arafat who founded the PLO used the name Palestinian as a way to liberate/destroy Israel and revert the land back to the name Palestine that the Romans renamed 2000 years ago.

Obadiah does not say Edom is the Palistine it did not even exist in his time. Neither does any other Biblical source. In this weeks Torah (Bible) Reading is says (Genesis) 25:30 “And Esau said to Yaaqov, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red [pottage]; for I [am] faint: therefore was his name called Edom. The Torah/Bible repeats the association of Edom with Esau in (Genesis) 36:1, 36:8, 36:43
There is no question the Edom is Esav, it is clearly written in the Bible.
For a Full Historical and Biblical explanation of who Edom was and is today see: http://www.betemunah.org/edom.html
who seems to have done a pretty good job explaining it.

        All the best.
Blessings from the land of Israel

        • JohnMcTernan says:

Obadiah 1:15 For the day of the LORD is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.
Oba 1:16 For as ye have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the heathen drink continually, yea, they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been.
Oba 1:17 But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.
Oba 1:18 And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame,
and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the LORD hath spoken it.

The House of Esau are the modern day Palestinians.

          • Shlomo says:

Where you see anywhere in Obadia the Esau is Palestinians? Palestinians did not exist when Obadia was alive, and still don’t exist they are Arabs.
I have shown you a link that proves from the Jewish sources in the Torah/Bible that Esav=Edom=Rome=West.
            All Jewish scholars know this.

The Jews have 4 Exiles the 4th is Edom Rome, the longest. Since ROME burned the 2nd temple and exiled the Jews from Israel.
Rome never got their judgement for payback, and will.
You and everyone reading this can be Righteous Gentiles that blesses Israel and follows the 7 Noahide laws. As the Bible says “I will bless those who bless you”.

You yourself understand that Obama is leading the world towards a confrontation with Israel and that Western leaders have been doing so for years. This is where Gog comes from, he is the leader of the Superpower of the world. Today the only superpower is America. So if it happens under Obama he is Gog. He will lead 70 nations to divide Israel (in the name of piece of course) when you see USA or EU troops coming to Israel, to make Piece, that is where they will be buried, and the truth about the One G-d if Israel will become apparent to all. As is says “On that day he wil be one and his name will be ONE”
“And the knowledge for G-d will cover the earth like water.”

          • JohnMcTernan says:

The context of Obadiah tells you that it is the Palestinians.

I TOTALLY reject the Noahide laws.
If fact, saying I can be righteous through the Noahide laws is a great insult.
Noahide had it right when he after the flood he offered

Genesis 8:20 And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.
Gen 8:21 And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake; for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.

Noah knew that the blood of the clean animals was needed to be offered to the LORD, which was a sweet savor to Him.
It is no different today as Jew and Gentile need the blood of sin.
Noah’s sacrifices pointed to the shed blood of the Lord Jesus to pay the final price for sin.
I am a righteous Gentile because the Lord Jesus, the Messiah of Israel, is my Savior.

          • Shlomo says:

Do you know what the 7 Noahide laws are? They were given to Noah for ALL of Humanity. Later on Abraham who spread G-ds name in the world was chosen to be the father of the Jewish people though his son Issac and grandson Jacob to be a light onto the nations.

His 1st son Yishmael is the father of the Arabs or Islam today, and Isaacs son Jacobs brother Esa is Edom the father of Rome/Christianity and Western world.
That make us cousins as well as with the Arabs.

As the nation to hear from G-d directly on mount Sinai, Part of our job is to educate non Jews to follow the Noahide laws which is very easy to do. Its Just 7 laws to follow.

Noahs sacrifice was learned from Adam, and has nothing to do with Jesus who was a Jew that lived thousands of years later.

You can have a relationship directly with G-d. “Do not have false G-ds on my face” is one of the 7 noahide laws and 10 commandments from the Jews as well. That means you and G-d 1 on 1.
The Jews received a very elaborate and specific oral tradition to the Torah called the oral Torah. You quoting Ovadia and interpreting it how you see fit without any backing or sources when we Jews have 3500 years of texts, is like an elementary school student arguing with a physics professor about quantum physics.

I am not trying to insult you, I admire the tracking work you have done in your book.
But misquoting the Torah/Bible is simply wrong. I would be happy to introduce you to Rabbi Singer

          • JohnMcTernan says:

There are no seven laws of Noah.
This is a great insult to those who believe in the Messiah of Israel, the Lord Jesus.
There is one law of Noah and that is the need for shed blood which is a part of burnt offerings.
I already posted it for you to see.
Do you believe that the need for shed blood is part of your seven laws of Noah? If not why not?

Rabbi Singer knows me real well.
I debated him in NYC about the need of blood for atonement.
He did not do well during the debate to the point he had to edit the debate for the DVD.

I would love to show you why Jesus of Nazareth is your King Messiah.
This alone disproves the Noahide laws.

If you are truly intellectually honest and capable of thinking for yourself, I can show you from the Tenakh that Jesus of Nazareth is your Messiah.

I’m thinking, it would be good for you post the seven laws of Noah, with the verses to prove, it for the Comment section to see.
I’ll post the first one for you.
That death and shed blood are needed for sin and to stay God’s judgment: Genesis 8:20 And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.
Gen 8:21 And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake; for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.

It never ceases to amaze me,the accuracy of Scripture. So many things in play, one would have to be a corpse not to notice, something big is in the offing. We are in the last stages of what the Bible warns us about.Israel has got her hands full, and while she is very capable, her only real help will come from the lord.It is prophesied that eventually, all nations will come against her.At a point in the near future,it is only Messiah who will deliver her.He is our only hope as well.Pray for Israel, her safety, her people,..and pray for us,that we become more hungry for God,as the desires of this world fade into nothingness. There is nothing here worth holding on to materially speaking.Lets live for the King,[not elvis],and His Kingdom. Update 11/15: This email was in the Urban Survival newsletter on 11/15

One of our colleagues, who’s an ex-war gamer thinks this might be exactly what’s going on. Here’s what he’s thinking:

“The fuse arguably has been lit.

As many expected, Israel waited for the U.S. election results before deciding their course of action. Once it became clear Obama won his second term, and little or no hard line diplomatic and military help would come from America, they have chosen how to respond. In small circles, from their national borders outward.

Now, the wait is over, and Israel has shown her hand – in the form of a clenched fist. Iran will surely amp up their rhetoric as well as their aid and likely their presence in the Med and Red Sea. Russia will look to justify an increased presence in the area through military aid to Iran/Hamas, or one might call this unholy alliance Iranamas. Syria looks to benefit from the resulting game of Middle Eastern Stratego, and the Brotherhood will seek to take full advantage as well.

Israel no doubt planned for all of this, and her circle of proactive, preemptive action should start to expand appropriately as the various actors commit to their courses of hostile action. Things should transpire quickly – the dominos have started to fall. Strap yourself in. I think this could be a long, wild ride.”

    • Caution needs to be used when reporting dreams and visions. God is not the only one who sends them. When you reported @ about the 5 minute mark in the above video that your daughter in law heard a ‘female angelic voice,’ red flags went off for me. If the dream or vision does not check accurate against the WORD it is not from God. (I’m assuming that ‘female angelic voice’ would come from a female angel.) Nowhere in the Bible are angels referred to with a feminine pronoun, nor do they have female names. Be careful.

      Regards,
      Steve

  5. Israel has been under attack for wweks, so who in the government or media cares? While the rockets keep coming in, aimed at Israeli civilians, every arab and moslem are calling for the end of Israeli aggression. This is what the US supports. The media somehow can’t acknowledge that Israel’s neighbor’s want Israel gone. The coverage is an absolute joke. It’s terrible what is happening in Gaza. So when does the Psalm 83 war start? Sandy, Benghazi, the fiscal cliff, how much worse will it get for America. Thank you for being one of the few people who care. Israel has been abandoned.

  6. Melany W. says:

((Praying for Israel)). In the midst of this earth groaning in fervent anticipation of the King of Kings, what we are witnessing should spur us into overdrive in prayer, faith, & witnessing. Witnessing can be as simple as saying, “I believe Jesus is coming back again soon.” I’m having ample opportunity to say this because everyone I know is so upset about what is going on in this country and the world, but they’re not making the connection between God’s plan and the end of world history. There is so much fear out there.

  7. Wonderful prayer meeting tonight–thank you John for providing this time when those of us do not have a church family can get together with “like believers”.

One thing especially that I have noted since the start of the events occurring right now in Israel is that on another website the comment section is suddenly absolutely flooded with false teachings. It is like these people have just been waiting for prophetic events to become more obvious to start spreading their deceitful teachings (especially replacement theology) about end times. It is so bad that it looks like a fulfillment of:
    Matthew 24:11 (KJV)
11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

We must beware and be like the Bereans now more than ever before. Pray for God’s discernment!

    Psalm 91:4 (KJV)
4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

Even here in Nigeria emotions are still runing high as some muslims are planing to protest Israeli incursion into gaza. Bro John i think that Iran and syria are using this to test Israel’s response in case of any attack.

  9. In 2010 I had a short vision in my sleep it was not a dream just a short vision that America was in deep trouble and the world was in such chaos and war was all over the US and it was very dark and that is all I saw. After seeing this video it confirms my vision and I believe it was from the Lord.
Back in 2003 my spirit felt that the end was coming soon and I needed to get close to the Lord and let people know.
    God amazes me still.
People we are going home very soon lets take as many as we can. God bless all of you. We will be safe in the arms of the Lord

  13. Keith O. says:

John, It occurred to me that perhaps the Muslim Brotherhood may not necessarily have to take over all of these neighbors of Israel to create a confederation. They may confederate with the Shite Hezbollah to attack Israel and in the process, turn on each other. This could be a possibility because God has done this in the past to the enemies of Israel-turning them on one another. If this is the case, then the Psalm 83 War could be upon us much sooner.

  14. Mrs. CJB says:

Yes, Brother John, I know that we are praying for the 2nd Coming of the Prince of Peace – He is Jerusalem’s and thd world’s only hope for peace when the hands of time wind fully down.

  17. In my last comment I mentioned how important it is to be like the Bereans and search the scriptures to be sure that what you are reading and hearing is true interpretation of scripture.
    Acts 17:10-11 (KJV)
10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

What I have noticed is that anyone trying to prove they are correct is that they use lots and lots and lots of scripture. I’m thinking they do this because they think the average Christian will not take the time to look at those scriptures to determine if they are being used correctly. I could say a lot more here but so that this may not be too long, I just want to give two examples of where scripture has been used, misused, and misquoted to prove a point. Hopefully we will think about this before accepting as truth what anyone may write, especially if entirely different from established doctrine.

First example is Matthew 24:29-31 which is being used to prove that the church will go through the tribulation. No space here for all that needs to be said about these verses. I suggest you read them and realize that Jesus is NOT talking to the church here, unless you believe in replacement theology and think that the church is now spiritual Israel!

Second example is something very recent. This was in a comment a few days ago, and I did not bother (not a good Berean) to check the scripture reference until today. The difference in the scripture and what was quoted to be the scripture is very shocking!

Quote from comment: In Luke 7:43 Jesus told Simon …” to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.”

    Actual scripture: Luke 7:40-43 (KJV)
40 And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on.
41 There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.
42 And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?
43 Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.

There is not even a small resemblance to the actual scripture as the quote by the person making the comment.

Please, please, people–whatever you do, take time to be a Berean and pray fervently that God will give you discernment.

Here is a Biblical warning especially with the events now happening in the Middle East:

    Revelation 22:18-19 (KJV)
18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

    God bless us all!

    Maranatha!

    • Hope says:

@Barbara, I’m so sorry you are still stressed over the things we talked about the other day, and I agree whole heartedly with you that we must be good Bereans and carefully study scripture. But I feel I must correct you just this last time so that people aren’t misled. I mistakenly wrote Luke 7:43, instead of Luke 7:47. If you’ll read a little further down (you must have finished the story) and read Luke 7:47 you would have realised thats where I quoted the scripture from. Sorry for the confusion, but the message remains the same. Those who are forgiven little love less than those who have been forgiven much. Thats the whole point of the Lord’s story to Simon! Maybe you’re getting something else when you read it, that’s between you and the Lord. Please don’t take my comments personal. What I shared was just something the Lord has taught me. In the future, I’ll be keeping these things to myself. I am realising that today, people are being offended by things we used to be able to freely share.Read the whole passage. Be sure to read all the way to verse 47.

Luke 7:36 And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee’s house, and sat down to meat.
37 And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,
38 And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
39 Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.
44 And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.
45 Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.
46 My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.

*47 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.

Barbara, notice Verse 47. That is the scripture I quoted. We all have to open our hearts to what scripture is saying, Amen?

      • My dear Gerie, thank you for clarifying which verse you intended to quote. My point at this time was to urge readers to be very, very careful (like the Bereans) to be sure that any scripture used was being interpreted correctly and being used in a way that would bring correct information regarding any issue under discussion, would be uplifting to fellow Christians, and even more importantly that it would bring honor and glory to our precious Saviour, Jesus Christ, our Lord, and King!

I have been constantly disturbed by many, many instances in just the past few days of the “teaching” of false doctrine and the twisting of scripture by writers to promote false teachings regarding prophecy.

Some think that it is not important whether one believes in pre-trib, mid-trib, or no-trib rapture and that such beliefs will not determine whether a true believer will enter God’s Kingdom, while some are extremely insistant that their viewpoint is the correct one. I do not know the heart of the person promoting their viewpoint so there is no way that I could possibly judge their relationship to our Lord, or the motives behind their insistence that their view is the correct one.

With rockets flying in and out of Israel and so much misinformation in the news about who is at fault, it is scripture, rightly divided, which will become even more important to all believers. It is also why it is extremely important that believers draw ever closer to our Lord, why loving and witnessing to the lost is so important, and why showing love toward fellow Christians is even more important; because as persecution comes stronger and stronger against Christians, we will need the prayers of our Christian brothers and sisters to keep us strong in our trust and faith in God.

        Psalm 91:4-6 (KJV)
4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
        5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

It is interesting to see the continued correlation between the blessings and cursings of those people/nations that either do or do not support Israel.

Really appreciated the prayer for Israel the last couple of nights. As usual, the MSM is downplaying the bombings,CNN even interviewed a Palestinian spokesperson who claimed that Israel started the bombings. I could barely listen to the man. And,on cue,the people of Jordan are taking to the streets, asking for the removal of the King. I stand in awe at how the God of Israel moves these events by His hand.
    @Barbara
I agree with you that we must all be Bereans, especially at this point in history. Those who are dedicated to getting out the message of end-time prophecy are especially vunerable to spiritual attacks. The goal of these attacks always gravitate toward one thing, getting our eyes off of what God is doing with His prophetic word. I have seen this happen many times in comment sections on various,scripture-based prophecy blogs and the attacks can come in the form of out right anti-prophecy rants to twisting of the scriptures, with the intent of deflating the importance of prophecy. This is why it is so important to know the scriptures and understand that it will be constantly under attack until the Lord returns. Satan knows he has little time left and he will do anything he can to downplay the importance of God’s plans….which is Prophecy.

  20. Hope says:

Prophecy is important, of course. No one is debating that, but there is something the Holy Spirit tells us is even more important than prophecy, and that is love. Especially love of fellow believers. Jesus said the world would know us because we had love for one another. What good is it if we understand all mysteries, if we understand exactly the way every thing will work out, if we don’t have love? Love is patient, it isn’t easily provoked or offended. We can busy ourselves storing up goods and feeding the poor among us, but if we don’t have love, we’re nothing. When we stand before the Lord, its not going to be about how many mysteries of God we understood, but if we loved. Not our own families, but those maybe who were hard to love. That’s the test. I don’t think a life spent persuing God’s love, even placing the understanding of it higher than understanding prophecy, is a wasted life. Soon things will be plain to all, without studying, but the pursuit of love has rewards built in for this life as well as the next.

    1 Cor 13
13 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

    What point is that Mary?

  22. Hope says:

If we’re fully yielded to God’s Holy Spirit, we’ll already be living each day as if Jesus could come back at any time. Prophecy is good, and is a witness to the lost that the Bible is true and that’s the way it should be used. But I’ve seen it happen time and again that for some of us, following prophecy can become a consuming addiction. Prophecy is good, if it’s kept in it’s proper place, but just like tongues in the early church, our obsession with it can become unbalanced, because what we continually dwell on goes into the heart, and “out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh”.

If thats all they hear us talk about, in many cases our witness to unsaved family is ruined. They no longer want to hear what we have to say and begin to tune us out. We’re warned that we can be perfect prophecy students, and understand all mysteries, but if we don’t have love, we’re nothing. Do we just skip over this warning? Being preoccupied with worldly events we neglect to cultivate the fruits of the Spirit which don’t come naturally but must patiently be learned. Jesus also prohetically warned us that brotherly love in the last days will wax cold. Prophecy is good, but not when it causes us to look down on others who are not as interested and knowledgeable as we are. In the end it’s our heart that matters the most and the way we treat others we’ll be judged ourselves. Also, there is a way to fight for truth for righteousness sake, but pettiness and spite God will judge, and there is no respector of persons with Him.
