I grew up on the KJV and I prefer the KJV. I discovered Youngs Literal translation of the Bible published in 1898. I believe it was translated by the same man who wrote Young’s Concordenance. It did not be come popular with the populace because it was a literal translation. I bought a digital version foe a couple of dollars and ordered a hard copy. The copies I bought the language was updated. and I’m reading in Genesis. Instead of LORD God, it states “Jehovah God”, which is correct to say. If you read the Preface of the KJV it will explain the codes used with Gods’ names. God, GOD, Lord, LORD, etc. This could be another good translation to use. I would have to spend a year going through it.
Did you know the Church of Rome is involved with the United Bible Society for a couple of decades? I heard this by Christian J Pinto of Adulum Films and Noise of Thunder Radio. He would be a great guest on your show John. Chris can explain to you about CODEX SINAITICUS The Oldest Bible? Or a Modern Hoax? His new film on DVD “Tares Among The Wheat” talks about this issue.
He also talks a lot about the Church of Rome and the Jesuits and what they have done and are doing to undermine the Authority of the Bible.

I fully agree john.those who read the Bible in English the King James Bible is by far superior. The modern translations are based literally on garbage, literally Tischendorf found Sinaiatticus in the garbage in a monastery in Egypt. Vaticanus literally was taken out of the dust heep in the Vatican. the corruption of the matters Masoretic text is without question and proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. Every modern translation is literally built on corruption and garbage. Stick with the King James and you’ll be okay.

Acts 11:26 (KJB) And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

The traditional text line of manuscripts in which the King James Bible (1611 A.D.) comes from – comes from Antioch! Antioch was the springboard for the Gentile Church and became the center for the Gentile Christians just as Jerusalem was for the Jews. Antioch was the center for the outreach of the Apostle Paul and his missionary journeys. Many of the disciples also visited Antioch, which was the “heartbeat” of Christianity.

As for all the other corrupt modern versions (1881 A.D.) – they come from the Alexandrian text line of manuscripts. Alexandria, the place where most of the modern texts and translations originated, had no such glory. Alexandria became the center of “intellectualism”, of which men such as Clement and Origen were active. It is a place where every defiant sect was represented. Religious corruption and false doctrines were prevalent; including Gnosticism, Arianism, pagan philosophy, etc. It is the place where the intellectuals of Christianity were attracted. Nothing good comes out of Alexandria (Egypt)! (I.E.: Clement, Origen, Eusebius, Vaticanus, Sinaiticus, Constantine, Westcott & Hort, and Catholicism – to name a few).

Acts 6:9-10 (KJB) Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen. And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.

I am also a KJV only user. However my first Bible was a German Bible (which I still possess). My parents were immigrants from Europe (Austria and Yugoslavia) after WW2 and they were instrumental in establishing a German speaking church here. I decided one day to do a comparison between my old German Bible and the KJV. The verse that always bothers me is John 3:16, begotten son versus one and only son. I was pleased to see that the German word used translates into begotten. My KJV sits right by my computer at all times and it is well marked and has many sticky notes and various bookmarks.

Thank you Brother John for always giving us today’s news from a Biblical prospective. I so long to see our Lord and to go Home. Sometimes I start thinking that it will be years before our Bridegroom comes for His Bride. But then I read the news and your commentaries and I feel that it could be any moment and I am encouraged. I know we are to be about our Father’s business, and I know we will go when the time is right, but I’m so ready to get away from this sin-filled, depraved, violent world. This isn’t my home. God Bless you Brother John and all the other readers here and Maranatha.

This was a wonderful comment, and I am so blessed that my ministry is such a blessing to you.
All the older Bible even in German came off the same Greek manuscript.
If you read a modern German translation, it is corrupted just like the NIV.
      God bless you.

My mother only had the King James, and that is the only version my family has read. My sister bought all of my four children KJV bibles for their birthday’s around the age of 10 to 12. If a person never reads anything but KJV, you just learn to grasp what is written. If I struggle with a word, I go and look it up in the dictionary. I’m thankful that my mom never had anything but King James, and it’s so beautiful besides!!

Your mother walked with the Lord and was wise in the word.
This was passed on to you and the grandchildren.
      Count yourself blessed.

No ands if or buts . . . raised with King James . . . even pray in King James!!! However . . . when sharing scripture (not always but sometimes) I find using the Complete Jewish Bible excellent as it “says” what I understand the King James to be saying in easy to understand spiritual context.

    For instance Luke 6:32 . . .

    King James Version
For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.

    Complete Jewish Bible
What credit is it to you if you love only those who love you? Why, even sinners love those who love them.

    P.S, Amen to Irene’s #9 post!!!

    • JohnMcTernan says:

Make sure you stay with the King James Bible.
If you read the Jewish translation, you see that Luke 4:18 is tampered with.

I was raised in the LDS ( Mormon) faith here in Utah and looking back i can say one of the few positive things that came out of that experience was the KJV Bible that was given to me when I was 8 years old, when I was baptized. I was a active Mormon until I was about 16 years old. For about twenty years after leaving I lived my life for myself until I finally read and understood the Gospel for the first time reading a book. I always tell people I was a Born Again Christian before I even knew what one was. I just knew I was sinner and God gave me the understanding to know That Jesus bought my forgiveness at the Cross. Over the next few years that KJV Bible the Mormons gave me was marked throughout the Epistles with passages affirming that I was saved by grace apart from the works of the law. The KJV Bible gave me the assurance that God was faithful in his promises and helped weed out all of the terrible lies I had been taught in my years as a Mormon. I was looking at that old Bible that had been replaced years ago the other day, Practically the whole New Testament was marked up with red, yellow and green markings.
    God is Faithful.

Not only do the modern interpretations (they aren’t translated) start with bad text, they resort to ‘equivalent thought’)…Isaiah 55:8
    King James Version (KJV)
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.
