Cashless society not going to happen any time soon. Maybe in 15-20 years. Countries like Sweden have tried it with much backlash. Even for banks, moving cash around and replenishing ATMs is very expensive (around $150 per replenishment). It’s more of a cost-cutting initiative than a more nefarious scheme by the elite to have greater control over the financial system. Eventually, a major crash in the world monetary system could go a long way in bringing us into a completely digital currency environment. The payment systems industry does not move quickly.
