Wisconsin Supreme Court Judge Questions Shutdown Order: ‘Isn’t It the Very Definition of Tyranny’

“Justice Rebecca Bradley of the Wisconsin Supreme Court questioned Wisconsin’s shutdown order on Tuesday, asking whether it amounted to “tyranny,” and what authority the state had to issue it.

The case, Wisconsin Legislature v. Palm, was brought by the Republican-controlled legislature against the Democrat-controlled administration of Gov. Tony Evers and Secretary of Health Services Andrea Palm.

The “Safer-at-Home” order, also known as Emergency Order 28, restricts economic activity throughout the largely rural state, even though the vast majority of coronavirus infections occurred in the Milwaukee area. It also bans protests and religious gatherings of more than nine people. (Separately, two Wisconsin residents sued Palm at the Wisconsin Supreme Court Monday, challenging the order’s violation of First Amendment rights.)

In questioning the Wisconsin Assistant Attorney General Colin Roth — via Zoom — Justice Bradley, a Republican, demanded to know what constitutional authority the governor had to shut down the state’s economy without consulting the legislature. She cited the Wisconsin state constitution‘s guarantees of individual rights, and rule “consent of the governed,” in asking Roth to justify the Safer-at-Home order.”

“Mr. Van Grack has suppressed evidence from the formation of the “Special Counsel Investigation” and likely even prior to it — for the very purpose of putting Mr. Flynn in the unjust position he now occupies while protecting the prosecutors, his team, and the cadre of malfeasant FBI agents from the discovery of their negligence, crimes, and wrongs,” Flynn’s lawyer wrote.

On Tuesday it was reported Brandon Van Grack failed to produce all evidence including favorable evidence on General Flynn to his attorneys. If there is any justice in this country, Brandon Van Grack would be referred to the state bar for disbarment then prosecuted for setting up Flynn and repeatedly lying to the court.”

“The Los Angeles City Council Wednesday voted to identify hotels refusing to take in the homeless during the coronavirus pandemic and said they could possibly be “commandeered.” Only 1,582 people have been placed in hotels, far short of the city’s goal of housing 15,000, FOX 11 in Los Angeles reported.

“Each hotel brings new hope, each room could save a life,” Mayor Eric Garcetti said of Project Roomkey, according to KABC-TV. “If the problems are on the hotel end, the public should know why, and then we should consider commandeering as they’ve talked about in other cities.”

“US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has been groundlessly attacking China. His point of view reflects many US politicians’ hatred toward China and the Communist Party of China (CPC). Take Pompeo as an example. He is a devout evangelical Christian. In the 1940s, some fundamentalists who were relatively moderate started to call themselves “evangelicals” and maintained the same theology. Evangelicalism has had a close connection with American politics – many US evangelical Christians, for example, voted for Donald Trump and believed that God has chosen Trump to be US president.

Many evangelical Christians tend to believe that America is a land chosen by God. Jonathan Edwards, an evangelist and one of the dominant figures in the 18th century, once said that “The latter-day glory is probably to begin in America.”

Under such circumstances, it is almost impossible for US politicians like Pompeo to believe the CPC-led China. They regard China as a completely different kind, or a rival of the US. In fact, since Trump took office, US policies toward China have been kidnapped by their deep-rooted religious beliefs.”

“The Justice Department on Wednesday released a mostly unredacted version of then-Acting Attorney General Rod Rosenstein’s August 2017 “scope memo” outlining the authority of former Special Counsel Robert Mueller — and the document reveals for the first time that Mueller’s authority went significantly beyond what was known previously.

Previously, it had been revealed that in May 2017, Rosenstein authorized Mueller to probe “i) any links and/or coordination between the Russian government and individuals associated with the campaign of President Donald Trump; ii) any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation; [and] iii) any other matters within the scope of [obstruction of justice laws].”

But, Rosenstein’s later August 2017 scope memo had remained largely redacted. The newly released version of the document makes clear that Rosenstein didn’t hesitate to explicitly authorize a deep-dive criminal probe into the Trump team that extended well beyond Russian interference efforts.”
